The Use of the word "SAVAGE"

Long ago, black women were referred to as "savages". Savage- violent: unrestrained, violent,or vicious, brutal and severe, living wild, beyond the control of people. Its amazing that this word has been used for many years and is still being used today. African American men and some women call themselves "savage", but do they really know what they are saying? We are a race of people just like everyone else in the world. Referring to ourselves as savages shows our lack of knowledge for what the word truly means. We live in a society where African Americans are already sterotyped as being violent, disrespectful, ignorant, uneducated, loud, uncaring, and etc. We are the race that is most likely not to go to college or graduate from high school. No one in the world looks for African Americans to make in the world. We are the race that has to work twice as hard to make it. We have been working hard to survive our entire life, but yet we are still sterotyped. If we continue to refer to ourselves as "savage" we will never come up in society. Before we use a word we should know the true definition of that word.
