The Past Impacting the Future-Sara Baartman

Sara Baartman stories was one that I had never heard before, but after watching a film on her life now, I know several different things. The film made me open my eyes up to how black females were looked upon by the opposite race. Sara was viewed as a woman with wide hips and a big behind. Most people viewed her as unhuman because she did not look like everyone else. I feel like the things that happen to her in the past are still going on today. Many people sterotype black women to say that all black women have big behinds and big breast. Black women today are only viewed for their bodies and their sexuality, the same way that Sara was viewed. I feel that the only difference is that back then black women were viewed as animals and unhuman, but today black women are viewed as thick, in which most take as a compliment. To me, history is just repeating itself. The same way that black women were viewed then, we are still being viewed today, but it is just in a more positive way.
